I wonder what size processing plant could make a dent in extracting these minerals and make useful chemicals. Fast growing plant matter could possibly be turned into both carbon filters and acid neutralizing ash. Centrifuges, magnets, froth tanks and other separation methods should help make a dent. If someone thinks this is impossible then consider how quickly we are starting to build stainless steel starships in Texas.
